Having recently passed the 7 year mark in our relationship, this story has allowed me to reflect on how we got this far--along with a few other thinks. Well done! Also, I agree with che: "moving through the universe" has given me pause on occasion.
The illustrations by Anthony Cudahy are great. I look forward to more from both of you.
Cheers!

HEY TAO LIN, JUST REMEMBER THAT WE WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU. YOUR STORIES HAVE CAPTIVATED OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

BEAUTIFUL STORY, BUT SINCE WE'RE ON THE TOPIC OF RELATIONSHIPS, YOURS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO BE POLYGAMOUS DOES IT? HEHEHEHEHEHEEHEH ;)

NEVER FORGET YOUR ROOTS.

After just rereading SFAA, I can say that I like the direction you're heading in. Your pacing is hott.

After recently finishing a reread of SFAA, I can say I like this new story too. Your pacing is better (which isn't to say the pacing in SFAA was bad, cause it wasn't.)

tao lin can you please help me. i love you but you're so far away from me. i truly love you. i've checked your blog for the past 2 years everyday in hopes of seeing you, in hopes of listening to your sweet voice. please i need you. as i ascend to heaven i will look upon you with my wings of desire spread in magnificent display. i will touch your face, kiss your lips as you look up at me and i will truly truly never forget you. my savior. my eternal undying love that will never perish among the decaying fleshes of this world and the fiery flames in the depths of those dark souls. you and i, you and i, it's just you and i. i will listen to your song and i will always wait for you. my poet. we will have a literary relationship of the century. all posterity will remember us by the secret poems and letters we exchanged to one another over the seas and mountains, over the dark hearts of man. we are one and our legacy will be left in the ink stains of textbooks and the cerebral corridors of mankind. our words will be their words. we are the world.

yo, Tao, I've read this story and your novel SFAA. Both seem to depict a man's emotional abuse of a woman, the story in particular the former from the self-pitying perspective of the man--he sees the whole universe against him at the end, e.g. (I personally see irony in the vocabulary you give Paul's thoughts. He indulges abstractions, adverbs, and flighty metaphors in a kind of self-pitying egotism.)

Any thoughts on this? I haven't seen any reviewer or commenter discuss it or question you about it, not that I've been exhaustive in my searching.

I hope it was about how you tore Megan Boyle's heart out and fed it to the wolves.

not Vice again??? Damn homie, you really got their number...now how's about trying to step up your game to the point where you don't have to write little bullshit pieces for Vice and actually write something decent.

The fact that you still haven't figured out that you're a genius and could do so much more than blogging is mind-boggling. How about trying to focus on something for more than 20 minutes...or is that the point? Or maybe that's just the MDMA talking.
